Yes, it is December and it is Christmas time. It is the time when most of us make an effort to be with family and to remember and cherish the things that are really important to us. However, this is not only a time to remember and cherish what is important. It is also a time of profound reflection on the year that is passing and the new year that lies ahead. Depending on how this year went and what you did, one will be either more or less positive about the future. In a way it is a reflection on our lives, our successes and failures.
1. Limit your invites to the most important people in your life. Less guests less expenses. 2. The venue eats up a huge percentage of the budget so be wise and practical when selecting your venue. If possible, have both the ceremony and the reception in one place to minimize your cost. 3. Resist the urge to pick foods that are costly i. e. lobsters, steaks. You can still impress your guests with less expensive food. 4. Keep your invitation simple. If you have the time or extra helping hands, you may even want to consider making the invitation yourself.
The pattern of God for marriage begins in the book of Genesis. In the beginning, God created man and woman (Gen. 1:27). After mans formation (Gen. 2:8), the Lord planted a garden where He placed man to dress and KEEP it (Gen. 2:15). Dress, in Hebrew, is defined as to work or to serve. Therefore, mans first duty assigned by the Lord God was to WORK in the garden. Secondly, he was to keep it which meant he was to guard and protect the garden and the inhabitants thereof. He was not only protecting the Lord Gods garden, but his home because this is where the Lord had placed him (Gen 2:8).
If you are among the majority who are not saving for emergencies first determine how you are spending. Go back through check stubs and credit card statements and determine how you are spending. Then look for areas where spending can be reduced. While energy costs are going up, you may be able to save some on your utility bills through conservation efforts. A combination of tax credits and fuel savings might make a new furnace a cost saver over the long term, provided it is significantly more efficient than your existing furnace.
